Designing a unified fintech platform that fuses cashback rewards, e-commerce, and AI-powered spending intelligence

Krti founders identified a gap in the regional fintech market. Users managed multiple credit cards across disconnected apps, earned cashback they rarely tracked, and missed savings opportunities hidden in their spending patterns. They wanted to collapse this fragmented experience into a single platform that combined a digital wallet, a native marketplace, and an AI engine that learns from user behavior.

The project was ambitious and it was unique. They envisioned a product that would compete with established wallets while introducing a redemption marketplace and personalized financial recommendations, all tailored to Kuwaiti consumers.

The challenge

The scope demanded three distinct product experiences under one roof, each with its own complexity:

• Multi-card wallet logic. Users needed to store multiple existing credit cards and receive real-time guidance on which card to use at specific merchants (Costa Coffee, petrol stations) to maximize their 1% cashback.

• Full e-commerce functionality. The marketplace had to support advanced features like Add to Cart, product browsing, and checkout flows. Users would redeem earned cashback on premium goods like Nike shoes.

• AI-driven personalization. The system needed to analyze spending patterns and surface contextual recommendations, acting as a financial advisor within the interface.

Adding to the complexity, the founders' strategic direction shifted frequently during development, requiring the team to remain agile without losing sight of the core user experience.

The approach

We opened with an intensive week-long design sprint in Dubai. Our team worked alongside the founders and technical representatives from MasterCard, who provided the financial backend foundation. Ten-hour daily sessions produced the high-fidelity mocks and video prototype KRTI needed to secure investor funding.

Once funding closed, DOT transitioned to a staff augmentation model. The DOT team embedded directly into the KRTI team for three months of execution. This structure kept design integrity consistent from prototype to production-ready screens.

We delivered the full interface architecture across three interconnected engines:

1. The wallet. Designed the multi-card management interface with optimization logic that guides users toward the best cashback option for each transaction, with real-time balance visualization.

2. The marketplace. Built a native shopping experience inside the fintech app. Full e-commerce functionality, redemption flows, and checkout designed for Arabic and English users.

3. The AI layer. Designed the interface for behavioral analysis and smart savings recommendations, surfacing personalized insights based on spending habits.

The outcome

A production-ready, dual-language (Arabic/English) fintech platform delivered in three months. The app architecture successfully balanced wallet functionality, e-commerce integration, and AI personalization within a single user journey.

The impact

KRTI launched with the technical infrastructure to compete in Kuwait's fintech market, backed by MasterCard's payment rails. The intensive residency model compressed months of traditional planning into one high-output week, proving that strategic stakeholder alignment can accelerate complex product development.

The design system we delivered supports future feature expansion across all three product pillars, giving KRTI's team the foundation to iterate as the platform scales.
